The QTEL.NET project addresses the issue of the quality of VET systems (policies and practices) as a major contribution to the progress towards the transformation, modernisation and adaptation of the European Education and Training systems, by focusing the processes of matching between training demand and training provision as one of the fundamental necessities for the successful functioning of the VET systems.

In particular, the project will explore the issue on sectoral level, focusing on the specifics in the sector of tourism, and will assure wide transfer of experience between EU member states and the accession countries.

Considering the importance of the issue, the objective of the QTEL.NET project is to analyse the relevant policies and practices in the partnering countries in the sector of tourism, distil from the information the success factors, and propose models for further networking and collaboration, based on the CQAF as a method for assessment and review, and as a measurement tool for setting reference indicators

The main approach of the QTEL.NET project is focusing on:

» comparison of the systems in the different countries

» distilling from the information the success factors and the key criteria

» developing practical sets of reference indicators based on the success factors using the CQAF approach

» spreading the results amongst the partnering countries and other interested bodies for influencing the processes and practices on both system and provision level (via Peer Learning Activity, International conference, EU sites and virtual communities, national dissemination events)

» assuring future collaboration by providing a virtual space for exchange and keeping and enlarging the contacts through virtual network.

Main activities during the project period:

» Overview of the mechanisms existing in the partnering countries to enable the matching between qualification demands and training provision in the sector of tourism, taking in account the specific technological development in the sector. Capture and classify examples of good practice

» Compare & distil from the information the success factors in the various systems (summary and discussion, meeting in Greece)

» Developing practical sets of reference books (at system, social partners and provision level) and reference indicators charts based on the success factors using the CQAF approach

» Dissemination & future collaboration

» Peer learning activity & International Conference (partners & policy makers, November 2007, Scotland)
